Visceral States

A Triple Bill Evening of Dance
April 4 & 5 at 8pm

A triple bill of works by Bay Area choreographers, Joe Landini and Alma Esperanza Cunningham with Mannakin’s own Traci Cottam.

Red State—Joe Landini’s new work in a California premiere, exploring the attitudes and ideas that make Red States red, Blue States blue and creates a single United States of America.  A created sound scape and slide presentation orients the audience as they arrive early walk through the lobby.

Great America— Alma Esperanza-Cunningham presents her latest installment of Great America. Great America is a series of dances that explore the idea of identity, “growing up American”. Using nostalgic music, familiar images, memory, and her own experience of growing up female and bicultural, Esperanza Cunningham weaves a kind of dream that speaks to the past and present. Dancers/collaborators:  Raina Sacksteder, Chloe Nagle, Sophia Grimani, Kyle Filley

Forthcoming—Traci Cottam expands her hauntingly cerebral offering seen at the Int’l Choreographers Festival.  Music by Poulenc provides the context for three dancers as they portray a single individual over time and space to help us see deeper into the mental state of the human psyche. Danced by Maddie Blessinger, Erin McMahon, Emily Pitts
