International Outreach
International Outreach
Mannakin Theater and Dance is actively engaged in reaching out to new populations both at home and abroad. In July of 2017, Nathan Cottam was invited to Bulgaria in order to lead the dance aspect of a project that provided recreation to children of refugee families from Syria and Afghanistan. This project culminated in a performance of Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf, for family and camp staff. In April of 2018, Nathan worked with the Bulgarian State Agency for Refugees and Caritas International to initiate a second visit to the refugee camps in Bulgaria, this time opening the adventure to students from the United States.
Our Mission
The mission of Mannakin Theater & Dance is to expand the world of the performing arts by inviting new individuals and demographics to rich and exciting experiences in the theater seats, inside the classroom and learning studio, and underneath the stage lights. We believe that by opening the tent of the premier performing arts to the broadest swath of people and cultures possible that new audiences are created, fresh voices are heard and all people are lifted as ships on a rising tide, to ever greater heights of human creativity and achievement.
